Lingerie For The Plus Size Triangle Body Type

Ok, we're up to the third of our four plus size body types: hourglass, oval, triangle, and inverted triangle. So, today we're going to take a look at the plus size triangle figure. Continue reading to learn what makes it unique, three lingerie styles that best compliment it, and which ones to stay away from.

The triangle body type is sometimes called a pear. The bust measurement is smaller than the hip measurement. Shoulders tend to be slim, there's a pronounced curve moving into the hips, and the thighs tend to be full. Lingerie for the plus size triangle body type should draw attention to the upper torso, lengthen the shoulders, and soften the hips.

Playful Peek-a-Boo Babydoll

In general, babydolls look great on a triangle body type. The fitted bust gives support and draws attention upward, and the flowy fall of fabric softens the curve of the hips. And some babydolls have a fun little feature that's guaranteed to keep attention on the upper torso: peek-a-boo cups! Peek-a-boos have a little window that lets the nipple show through. Some are vertical slits, and others are horizontal windows partially hidden by a little ruffle. If you can find one with adequate support and that little ruffle, you've hit plus size triangle body type gold!

Racy Ruffles

Bra cups aren't the only place to feature flattering ruffles. Some garments have ruffles attached to the straps. Like little angel wings, ruffles on the straps visually lengthen the shoulders. They balances out the hips, and add that little something that keeps the eyes on the top half of the body.

Deep V Diva

Ruffles aren't your only option for lengthening the shoulders. A sophisticated, deep V neckline does the trick, too. The wide end of the V at the top of the neckline contrasts with the smaller point making the shoulders seem wider than what's beneath them. Just don't pick up a halter-top with a V neckline. Because these fasten behind the neck, they actually narrow at the top. This makes your shoulders look smaller.

What to Stay Away From

Boyshorts may seem like a logical choice for a triangle body shape. Sure, they offer full coverage for hips. But they also create a wide horizontal line. This will emphasize the hips, not hide them. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but the less fabric you have on the hips, the better.
