Three Bondage Materials That Aren't Rope

Hi! This is Merry, your friendly bondage enthusiast here at The Spot. I love all things restraint - and I love to get inventive. Don't get me wrong, rope is sexy. (Oh, so sexy.) But, rope can be a bit...intimidating. What kind should you get? Cotton, nylon, hemp? What diameter should it be? How much should you buy? And what knots are safe to use? If you're just starting to explore bondage, you'll probably want something more beginner-friendly. Here are some bondage materials that you don't have to make a trip to the hardware store to find.

A Man's Necktie

Ah, the necktie. It's the most popular gate-way bondage item ever. It's soft. It's silky. It's easy on wrists and ankles. And there's something sexy about that shhhhhh of fabric-on-fabric as it slides out from underneath a shirt collar. Mmmm, anticipation.

Bondage Tape

This is a super common beginner "real" bondage material. It's user friendly and can easily be applied and removed. Bondage tape comes in a roll like duct tape. Unlike the silver fix-it-all, though, it only sticks to itself. Bondage tape is basically a long strip of very thin PVC that carries an electrostatic cling. To make it stick to itself, simply overlap and press. Because there's no adhesive, there's no need to worry about irritating sensitive skin or cleaning glue off the sheets. The wet-look high-shine of bondage tape adds a sexy touch, too. And when you and your partner are ready to remove it, it's gone with a quick snip of safety scissors. Bonus: bondage tape can also be used to make lingerie. Wrap it around the torso or hips for a sexy, shiny tube-top or miniskirt!

Flexible Coil Restraints

Wait, what? Flexible coil restraints? That sounds complicated and weird. Nope! They're like foam rod hair curlers. You know, the ones you can twist into any shape to make spiral curls? But much longer. The coil restraints have a flexible-but-firm core surrounded by a soft, forgiving padding. The whole thing is covered by a black fabric sleeve. They come two to a package, are perfect for quickly restraining wrists and ankles, and stay in place once they're on. The padding prevents discomfort, they can be reused again and again, and the best part? No knotting knowledge needed!
